Marc Summers, PhD.
Karen is simply the best teaching artist I have seen in any discipline, at any location, at any time.
Few individuals have demonstrated the high level of dedication, organizational skills, versatility, and wide-ranging knowledge in theatre that Karen De Mauro possesses. She has not only demonstrated to me a deep understanding of the connections between theatre and spirituality, but also has an open mind and heart enabling her to reach out to others and communicate with love. She is highly skilled and intuitive.

The day that changed my life was November 1, 2007. I will tell you how it all began. Our teacher, Mrs. Marvullo, told us that an acting coach, Ms. Karen De Mauro was coming in for a social studies lesson. She taught me that learning to be an actress is really exciting and not dull and boring. She told me, during an improvisation about the Revolution that the way I handled he Redcoats was very clever. I felt proud and want to learn to fill my work with action and emotion.

The program was a memorable learning experience for all students, even those with lower self-esteem. No part was really larger than the smaller parts. All students felt equally important. Ms. De Mauro is a talented performer. I also feel the children in my class all enjoyed this opportunity to get on stage and say one or more lines. Even the children who previously experienced stage fright enjoyed this experience.
… Karen De Mauro was an excellent instructor. All of the students had an opportunity to shine in their own way; not only was there singing, dancing and acting, but there was learning about the Revolution. Children gained confidence in this play that they might never have gotten by sitting in a classroom learning about it.

She’s fun to be with! She’s a person who isn’t uptight and who likes to be with kids. She really taught us how to focus. I never paid attention to acting, but She got my interest.
Karen De Mauro has the presence, skills, and charisma to engage pupils in accomplishing tasks which they might otherwise never undertake. Rarely have I seen youngsters so uniquely able to focus on a task and to support each other in a collaborative effort.
